I had an idea for another free motion practice project today, but I ran out of time to make it, so it's back to the archives again! This was an online challenge through Quilting Arts Magazine a few years ago, a swan quilt based on a photo they posted. This one got me a Grand Champion ribbon at the fair one year too, it was a fun little project. The nest is part applique, part free motion, and a little bit of colored pencils to add shadows. The feathers are free motion stitched. I made the swan separately with brocade and wool batting, then added to the quilt for more dimension.
