![]() Whew, so many things happening around here! Keep reading, there may be a free kit in it for you too! Ok, here goes... 1. How to get a free kit! A couple of friends of mine have generously been telling quilt shops about me while traveling, and it is helping me get in some new shops! So I came up with an offer to hopefully have more of you do that. The details are on the home page, but basically, if you tell a shop about me, and they place an order, you and the shop will both get a free kit of your choice! (Finish reading this post, then go to the home page for details!) 2. Class/group orders Since most of our kits are self contained, they work well for classes. (The table runner kits do not contain batting.) We have decided to sell class or group packs to anyone, not just quilt shops. If you just want to get a bunch of friends together at a retreat or make them all yourself, you can get them at wholesale, which is half price. You can order any combination, it just has to be at least 6 kits or patterns. If you are NOT a shop, you can only sell them to your friends at your cost, not for profit. Just send me an e-mail at [email protected] with what you want, and I will send you a paypal invoice, or you can call with a credit card. There will be a $15 flat shipping charge. 3. Limited time, new raven colors! While supplies last, the Raven card kits are available in lime green and purple! (photo above) Retail only, not for wholesale, at least for now until we see how it goes. 4. Dragonfly fabric packs ![]() In case you haven't seen yet, we now have fabric only packs for the two dragonfly kits. If you have a kit or pattern, and just need the fabric, or just like the color combos, this is for you! It is mostly fat eights of 12 fabrics, plus 8 eye beads. This is enough fabric to make either 4 wall hangings, 2 table runners, or a combination. See either of the Dragonfly kit pages for details, click the photo. 5. and last, but not least, Plexus! ![]() After 15-20 years of battling chronic illness, these supplements have changed my life, so I have been a distributor since last July. Now I am seeing them help friends and family too. I had tried a whole lot of different treatments, medications and supplements, both traditional and alternative, and this finally helped, so I am very motivated to tell people about it! They target blood sugar, gut health, and inflammation, which are at the root of so many modern day health issues. I think everyone needs it, but especially if you are suffering, I'd love to give you more info! If you just want to try it, I always recommend starting with the Triplex combo for a few months. (It's marketed partly as a weight loss product, but it is not about that for me, it is about core health! I have seen severely underweight people gain weight with it.) Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] with any questions, or click the website below to order. There are three ways to order: retail, monthly autoship (called 'preferred'), or wholesale, so you may have questions just about that :-) www.shopmyplexus.com/beretnelson Ok, go to the home page to learn about the free kit offer, then come back to the blog to look into Plexus. Happy and HEALTHY sewing!

![]() I have had several roadblocks with my newest kit, but it is just about ready to go to the pattern testers! This photo is a card that my friend Lea made from the scraps from the new kit. It just occurred to me that I could include instructions for that in the kit too :-) There is no end to the possibilities, that's why I have trouble getting things done, I always have a hundred ideas swirling around in my head! ![]() It's pretty rare for me to make a project for me, except maybe for a few journal covers :-) But I have made not one, but TWO things for myself lately. The first one is a new needle book which I have been desperately needing for a long time. (The second one will be in another post :-) ) The needle book has felt pages in the middle to put the needles in. The outside was made like the journal cover, except it didn't need flaps, and I used binding instead of the pillowcase finish. I also put some heavier interfacing (Peltex) in the front and back to make it stiffer. I left a gap so it would fold nicely. It seems I am really on a purple kick lately, I need to make something a different color! Also, remember our new fabric packs for the two dragonfly kits! You can also use them for whatever you want, and be sure to send me a photo. They contain enough fabric to make either 4 wall hangings or two table runners, or a combination. And the table runner kits are still on sale also, $49 each for the rest of the month of March!
![]() I finished my project from Trish Stuart's class that I did last week. It has a few issues, but I did learn a lot, which is the purpose of taking a class, right? I had never tried painting a background on a quilt, it was lots of fun and I'm sure I will try it again! I got anxious to finish at the end, so I did the leaves with a rubber stamp :-) Remember our table runner sale that is still going, $49 each for the rest of the month! And, stay tuned for a way to earn a free kit by helping me find quilt shops to sell my kits and patterns for me. It always helps if a real person tells them about me! ![]() Several people have asked if we sell just the fabric for the two Summer Dragonfly kits, (wallhanging and table runner) so they can make more if they want, and we finally did it! You can also use your imagination and design your own coordinating project instead, in which case I want to see a picture :-) The fabric packs contain mostly fat eighths, plus 8 beads for the eyes. They do NOT contain anything else, such as instructions, backing, batting, etc. There are 9 Starr Design fabrics, three batiks, and the eye beads. The packs contain enough fabric to make either 4 wall hangings, OR two table runners, OR two wall hangings and one table runner. The full kits or just the patterns are sold separately. The patterns are available in print or download form. For now these are only available for the Summer Dragonfly kits, not any of the other ones. To sum up, you now have these options: Summer Dragonfly Wall Hanging Kit (contains everything you need) Summer Dragonfly Table Runner Kit (contains everything but batting) Summer Dragonfly Wall Hanging pattern only, both printed and downloadable Summer Dragonfly Table Runner pattern only, both printed and downloadable and the new Summer Dragonfly "Fabric Only" pack And, remember to sign up for our e-mail list, in the sidebar to the right, and follow us on Facebook and Pinterest! (Buttons for those in the sidebar too! The 'like' button at the bottom of the post just 'likes' this post.) ![]() Yesterday I got to go next door to the Material Girls quilt shop and take a class by Trish Stuart. She does lots of cool things with Tsukineko inks and thread painting. I didn't get to finish my project yet, but I learned a lot. I will show you a sneak preview of one of the earlier steps! Also, she came and visited my shop/studio, and gave me lots of great advice, which was pretty cool! ![]() And remember our table runner kit sale, $49 for the rest of the month, click on the photo or the "Store" page above. ![]() For the rest of the month of March, in honor of Seward's Day and Alaska being the 49th state, our three table runner kits are all $49! So if you got a wall hanging kit, this is a great time to get the matching table runner kit. The table runner kits contain everything you need except batting. They have the top fabrics, backing, fusible web, and muslin that works as a 'pre-backing' for quilting, since the real backing goes on after quilting. Click the photo below, or click the 'Store' button at the top of the page. Also, another quilter, Heather Wind-Mulder, sent me a photo of a journal cover she made using my tutorial, and it turned out great! She even made some copper wire embellishments to add to it! Click on the photo to get to the tutorial. There are several photos at the end of it with variations that people have made, be sure to check it out! They are a great way to use up scraps and practice some art quilty techniques. |
