Description
This kit contains everything you need (except thread) to complete this project, including beautiful hand dyed fabric from Starr Design Fabrics, batik fabrics, fusible fleece (instead of batting), fusible web, beads for the eyes, and even backing fabric! Having all this in the kit saves you time and money. Less running around to get supplies means you can get right to sewing. There is no curved piecing. The free motion stitching does add a lot to the finished quilt, but it is not necessary. The decorative stitches also add a lot, but it can be done without those as well. The three batik fabrics may vary from the photo, but will have the same overall look. It's a fairly quick and very fun project! For thread, I used yellow, gold, a dark and a light purple. A regular school glue stick is very helpful also, the purple kind is fine. This was our first kit, and was basically inspired by playing with a bunch of hand dyed Starr Fabrics sample packs. We have hordes of mosquitoes here in Alaska, so we also have lots of dragonflies – which we much prefer. Click here for some video tutorials to help you do this project! |

The package has fat eights of most of the fabrics, it contains enough to make either 4 wall hangings, 2 table runners, OR, two wall hangings and one table runner. It also has 8 eye beads. But it does NOT contain anything else; no directions, (except for a bit on cutting) no batting, backing, etc. Both designs are available in either full kit form or pattern only form, and those are printed or downloadable.
Optional butterfly design, free download with applique shapes and instructions. Kit does not include enough fabric for butterfly wings, only the body, so you will have to find your own.
