About Us
"We" is mostly "me", Beret Nelson, although my husband and (three grown) kids help too. I am an art quilter in Fairbanks, Alaska. I love to try new techniques, and find creative ways to use fabric! I mostly make smaller projects that I can finish quickly, as I have a short attention span! I have sold those at bazaars and art shows, and several of my projects have been in Art Quilting Studio magazine, including the cover of the Winter 2023 issue!
But at least as much as creating, I love to pass on what I have learned, I'm definitely a teacher at heart! (I may even talk to my people in my head while I work... that's not weird, right?🤣 ) So I have made many kits and patterns, (most of those have been in the Keepsake Quilting catalog!) and more recently online classes to help people in their art quilting journey. (Framed Collage and Simple Secrets for Starting Art Quilting) I want my students/customers to see that they can do more than they think, and that my processes are not as difficult as they look! I have found that I spend more time being a cheerleader than an instructor, and that so many people have fears associated with creating something new and different. But it's so rewarding! So I'm here to not only increase your confidence, (which applies to all of life!) but also to increase your skills and knowledge. Often a little piece of information is the difference between thinking you can do something and thinking you can't! And I'm loaded with lots of great tips! I hope you will follow along and create things you never thought you could, and hear the fun words, "You made that?!" 😊 |
