I finally got some pictures of my big project, then almost forgot to put them on here...I had already put them on my personal Facebook page.... Anyway, the project was a parka for our forester friend who has done lots of tree cutting for us. It's been in planning for a year or more, it's nice to see it done! It is Goretex on the outside, two layers of Thinsulate insulation, heavy polar fleece on the inside, and has black wolf fur for the ruff. The Goretex was a little more work than I remembered, I hadn't really worked with it in 20 years. Then I ended up having to make the outside layer over again because it was too small the first time, yikes! It has lot of pockets, even a big one across the back for maps. The monogram on the inside was for my entertainment, it needed something fun :-)

I finally got this tutorial done, I've been wanting to do it for months :-) It's a great introduction to art quilting, and even an easy beginner sewing project. The new Bible I got for Christmas was the perfect thing to try it on. Check it out here! Well, my monstrous project is done, but I'm waiting for some better pictures to put it on here. I'm also working on a tutorial for a quilted book cover, stay tuned for that! In the meantime, here is a picture of the sign my mom carved for me for Christmas, roughly based on my logo! The kids said if I put that on my table at craft shows I'll get more business for her than for me :-) She also sent the carved tree (not by her) and the cool cutting board is from my kids. :-) I've been pretty quiet on here lately, but not because I'm not sewing! I'm in the middle of a big non quilting project, hopefully I'll have pictures soon! Today I get to pick up my newest sewing machine, that should be fun :-)
One of our local quilt shops, Northern Threads, has invited me to hang out during their First Friday event tomorrow evening from 5-8. If you are local, feel free to stop in and say hi! Unless the ice storm they are threatening us with shuts everything down, that is....
