The equinoxes and solstices are a pretty big deal around here. Today is the day we start the lighter half of the year! So, in honor of that, I am having a buy one, get one sale on all of my downloadable patterns. Most of them are only $4.75, and they are mostly small enough to do in an hour or less, and are a great way to use up scraps, you probably won't even have to buy fabric. Most of them are quilted greeting cards, who do you know who would love to receive one of those? You can do a quick project and be a blessing all at once :-) How it works: To get your free pattern, purchase one first, then send me an e-mail, [email protected], comment here, or comment on my facebook page with the one you would like for your free one. Make sure it is available in download form, a couple of them are kit only. The purchased kit can be any form, kit, pattern, or download. (Moose and Willows, and the red Raven card pattern, and all of the wall hangings and table runners are only in kit form.) I will then e-mail you a PDF copy of the pattern of your choice.  Ok, that may be a SLIGHT exaggeration, but I have tried making fireweed cards a whole lot of different ways. Maybe I will have to do a post with all of them sometime :-) They are always popular, but I have had a very hard time finding ways to make them that I both like AND like to make. This one was pretty fun though! For the blossom, I sandwiched a layer of organza between two layers of Aquafilm water soluble stabilizer in a hoop and free motion stitched them. Then I cut them out and washed away the stabilizer. I thought about doing it with just thread, which I did on another project recently, but decided to save time by adding the organza, the stitching doesn't have to be quite as dense that way. Then, to stitch them onto the background, I used free motion stitching for the stamen part, and even stitched the beads on with the machine at the same time! The extra photo is a better format for Pinterest, haven't figured out a better way to do that!

(A few card patterns are also available in kit form, but not any of these spring ones.) Quilted cards are so quick, it's a great way to be able to finish a project in one sitting, and they make great gifts! Click on the photo to order or for more info.
  I'm still in a doodly mood I guess, so I decided to make it into cards at least. I drew the outline of 4 cards on a piece of white fabric first; it's easier to work with the larger piece at once than individual cards. Now all I have to do is cut them apart and put binding on.
