Congratulations to Shannon Hall for winning yesterday's pattern, you will get that in an e-mail today! Today is the second day of the Blog Hop giveaway sponsored by the Quilting Gallery. I'm giving away patterns and quilted cards, see the Day 1 post for details! You can comment on any post during this week, I will go by when I receive them as to what day you are entering. Thanks to everyone who has posted so far, there have been lots of good ideas! Even a few from the posts that were just my kids being silly.......hmm...:-) I'm still working on a way to have people receive my blog posts through e-mail...for now the best way to follow is to 'like' my facebook page, button on the sidebar. Click the button below for links to the other 200+ bloggers participating in the blog hop giveaway! Apparently the button to link to the other participating bloggers won't be active until later today...sorry if that has caused any confusion!
Starting Friday, March 8 through Thursday, March 14, I will be participating in a Blog Hop Party, hosted by the Quilting Gallery blog. I will be giving away a downloadable pattern (of your choice) each day. At the end of the week, all entries will be entered into a drawing where two people will each receive a finished quilted card. You can enter once each day. Check back tomorrow for more details! If you want a reminder each day to sign up, 'like' my facebook page. (button below) Feel free to share this post if you want to help me spread the word:-) Click on the Blog Hop Party box below starting Friday for a list of other blogs participating in the blog hop, all have giveaways! (Or click now if you want to register your blog, by noon EST Friday) A few weeks ago, I had a great plan of making small batches of new designs, so I'd have things to put on my blog and facebook regularly. Then the new shop started selling them, and I have had to make some bigger batches of previous designs to keep up:-) Hopefully I'll find the balance of both here soon! I spent a bunch of time this morning looking through my pictures for a photo of a moose in about this pose for a new card design. I was joking that the way this winter was going, I could probably just whistle for one. As it turned out, I didn't even have to do that, she just came, and even did the right pose, but there are a lot of branches in the way...I think I found one anyway, but this was pretty cool! This is a set of mini quilts that some friends and I made to decorate our church bathrooms:-) They were very simple to make using precut strips of fabric. We even used them generally in the same order that they were in the packages, we figured they always look nice there, so it should work on a quilt, right? We cut them to different widths, and some freehand curves on one of them. Then we just laid them down overlapping a bit on our batting and backing and raw-edge appliqued them with decorative stitches. This works best with a walking foot so they don't stretch and distort, but it's very quick and easy. The animals are just fused on. I think they are about 18 inches tall. A quick and fun project! I'll put a bigger picture of one in too. I have been hoping to have enough cards stocked up eventually to sell some on my website. But then a new shop requested to sell them two weeks ago, and they are keeping me hopping! I did get a lot done this week, so that was good!
