Summer is quickly approaching, and I am in desperate need of some cards, even though there are only a few shops that even carry them anymore...too busy packing kits! This was a very quick and easy batch, thanks to wonderful artwork by my friend Katie Kelm, who graciously gave me permission to use it! I altered it a bit on the computer so the ink would not be so intense, that doesn't always work well on fabric, then printed it on Transfer Artist Paper (TAP). Then ironed it to my white fabric, stacked it with batting and interfacing for stabilizer, and did some stitching. I found the eyes at a sporting goods store, they usually have a couple of rows of art quilting supplies! Well, they call them 'fly tying' supplies, but I know better :-)
I tried to get the sparkly thread to show, I haven't mastered that yet...
I am a homeschooling mom of three fun kids, who are now old enough that I have a little time to pursue my passion for sewing. After several years of making quilted cards and art quilts, I'm now starting to design kits and patterns Some of these are now available from Keepsake Quilting also. I teach classes at a local quilt shop, The Material Girls, and would love to do more traveling and teaching eventually. I am blessed to live in Alaska where I am surrounded by the inspiration provided by the beauty of God's creation!
